Velvet Ashes

A broken figure is still seen as beauty; only the red echo keeps burning.

LINER NOTES

The red here is not clean passion. Red static. Rose dust. Black lace. Bruised lips. The English words in the lyrics accumulate a texture closer to ash than to brilliance, closer to pain than to sweetness. Something is being consumed here — and the consumption is being watched.

Break beautiful. Favorite breakdown. Worship. Ashes. The song traces and retraces the boundary between beauty and collapse. Not “I will hold you because you are broken” — but “the only thing beautiful about you is the way you are breaking.” There is a wound at the center of this track that decorates other people’s gazes but never gets touched directly.

The religious atmosphere and the deep crimson are not decorations for darkness. Prayer becomes consumption in the same breath. Red velvet softness and porcelain wound coldness placed in the same frame. Kawaii here is not protected — it is watched. Its way of breaking is the spectacle.

Red in NEON RHAPSODY is ignition. Here, red is residue. What stays after the burning. Love, or brightness made to be watched. The two never fully separate. Velvet Ashes holds that question in deep crimson and does not extinguish it.

Test, test, red static on my lashes Rose dust falling down in soft ashes You said, “Smile sweet, stay still, don’t fight it” My heart cuts out in dead silence Black lace, midnight, bruised lips shining Low prayers burning down without warning Every night I fade into white noise Can’t tell what’s love from what destroys If I break beautiful, don’t turn now Let me be your favorite breakdown If I go numb inside your arms now Call it worship, not a comedown Dead, dead, deep in my chest again Pretty little failed test again Love me till my red roses die Kiss me while I glitch, twitch, then cry Cold, cold, scarlet rain falls through Staining my porcelain heart blood-red If I break down, let me glow slow Beautiful enough to lose control Made-up doll face, cracked veil sideways They cheer for the dark pose always They love the gloss, the red velvet Not the wound hidden underneath it Dress me crimson, call me holy Lipstick hides that no one holds me Baby, am I still worth worship When my soft love turns to ashes If I shut down all of my lights now Will you miss me when I black out If I smile with hollow eyes wide Will you see through this red lie now Dead, dead, deep in my chest again Pretty little failed test again Hold me as I come undone slow Make me your dark devotion tonight Cold, cold, scarlet rain falls through Staining my porcelain wounds blood-red If this void is all I know now I’ll wear it red before I go
