Core Identity
ESSENTIALS
Mel:Chroma in seven colors
Width, intelligence, pain, idol-form.
The core divides into seven colors.
Color is not genre.
It is the angle of feeling, the shape of how an idol is seen, the place where pain and thought catch light.
What is ESSENTIALS?
"Kawaii" is not one right answer.
The seven colors are not separate answers.
They light each other up, miss each other, fill in what the other can't say, and slowly bring Mel:Chroma's kawaii into shape.
ESSENTIALS reads the core of Mel:Chroma through seven colors.
If START HERE is the entrance, ESSENTIALS is the map. Not a ranking of the strongest songs, but a place to trace the outline of what Mel:Chroma calls kawaii.
Width. Intelligence. Pain. Idol-form.
Those four run through all seven tracks, each at a different weight.
You don't have to listen in order. Start with whatever color pulls at you.

Four lenses for reading the core
-
I
Width
Kawaii is not only what looks right. Crying faces, forced bravado, bedhead, lines that run past the edge — nameless feelings belong here too. Mel:Chroma's kawaii does not close around one answer.
-
II
Intelligence
Kawaii does not mean stopping the mind. Sitting with ambiguity. Carrying feeling without forcing a clean answer — holding the shake and contradiction inside. This intelligence is not coldness. It is the edge that keeps a heart that feels too much from breaking.
-
III
Pain
Kawaii does not have to stay bright. Things lost, half-burned, wanted but never reached. Inside kawaii there is pain that glows without ever being shown. That pain is not hidden. It rings out as one more color.
-
IV
Idol-form
An idol is a person — and at the same time, an image to be seen. Projected onto. Loaded with wishes. Sometimes carrying more meaning than the person inside. There is no escaping that weight. It holds the fear and beauty of being an image, and still stands there as a song.

-
AImai My Mind / 曖昧 Myマインド
Open track pageOrange is the color that holds heat while staying unresolved.
A heart that wants to understand but can't quite get there. Feelings that want to be clear but keep shifting.AImai My Mind lets "not knowing" ring out as it is.
Like or dislike.
True or false.
Your own feelings, or the image someone else cast onto you.
The line between them blurs.Holding on while staying unclear is not weakness.
It would have been easy to reach a conclusion.
Mel:Chroma chooses to hold that uncertainty without forcing it closed.
Orange carries that movement as heat. -
Every Shade of Kawaii / かわいいにも色々ありまして
Open track pageGreen is the color that keeps growing.
Not moving toward one answer — branching off, mixing, changing. Kawaii that never stops becoming.Every Shade of Kawaii is the entrance and the declaration.
Kawaii is not only sweetness.
Not only the neat and finished.
Clumsiness, stubbornness, smeared lines, strangeness, feelings without names.
All of it laid out as color. Here, the frame around kawaii opens.
"This is what kawaii has to be" — that answer stops being needed.
Green is where the widening begins. -
fatal: love
Open track pageViolet is the color that sinks deep.
Where love does not end as something clean, but takes on obsession, toxicity, the sense of something about to break.fatal: love does not hide the danger inside kawaii.
Loving something does not always mean being saved.
The things you want most can break you. Getting close can leave a mark.Pain does not only pull you down.
It deepens the outline of the light.
Violet is the color that carries that depth. -
Kawaii Is a Language / かわいいは言語を越える
Open track pageYellow is the color that gets through anyway.
Feeling before it becomes words. Expression that arrives before explanation. Shimmer shared before it can be translated.Kawaii Is a Language refuses to lock kawaii inside a dictionary.
The break in a voice, the way light lingers, the bounce of a rhythm.
Something reaches you before the explanation does.Idols don't come through words either.
The moment of being seen is where meaning is born, and inside the person receiving it, it becomes a different image entirely.
Yellow is the lit corridor through which Mel:Chroma's kawaii travels from person to person. -
Overthink Girl / 思考系ガール
Open track pageBlue is the color that never stops thinking.
Not letting feeling rush past — looking again, trying to name it, losing the name, and starting over.Overthink Girl does not stop thinking.
Overthinking is not weakness.
The world is too much to take in carelessly, so stopping isn't possible.Kawaii is the shape of a heart that feels too much.
It gets lost because it sees too clearly.
It keeps going because it cannot stop.
Blue is the color that makes that excess of thought glow cold. -
Velvet Ashes
Open track pageRed is what stays after the burning.
Heat, longing, collapse — and a beauty that does not go out even in the ash.Velvet Ashes asks about the gaze that watches something fall apart.
Why does something breaking carry so much appeal?
Why is something damaged watched like a prayer? An idol can become a frame for pain.
Even suffering, once seen, gets given meaning.
Red burns through that precarious beauty and shows what remains in the ash — a question that will not go out. -
My Lovable Idol
Open track pagePink is the color born from being seen.
The image someone loves. The form that receives someone's wishes. And the loneliness on the other side.My Lovable Idol keeps asking what it means to be loved.
An idol is not just someone standing there.
They are seen, named, loaded with wishes — and still become the image that sends light back.Being loved is both rescue and constraint.
And still, the idol returns the light.
Pink is that artificial, dazzling, slightly painful form of love.
